about
Wood for the Trees was inspired by the various forests in and around Cape Town, South Africa. It also plays on the expression of 'seeing the wood for the trees', ie the notion of gaining perspective on something.
The song is classical in nature drifting between major and minor modalities with subtle hints of jazz and blues. It was recorded at Flower Street Studio on my Kawai Grand Piano.
It’s the 6th release in my latest solo piano series.
